THE GLENAHIRY OUTRAGE

. LONDON, March 12. In the House of Commons Mr Birrell made a statement in connection with the Glenahiry outrage. He declared that Inspector Preston's report of the 7th September was modified into the report of the 11th because the Law Officers found that it contained suggestions and also matters of fact which had occurred before he had arrived on- the scene. The second report was prepared and feigned without anybody's interference or suggestion. Mr Birrell denied that it was altered, and offered to produce the original of the first report. He added that if both sides wanted a public inquiry into the Glenalriry affair, the last thing the Government wished was to conceal anything or to keep anything back. Mr J. E. Redmond gave notice of motion in favour of a public inquiry. The Irish members and Unionists support- the demand. Inspector Preston's report of the 7th of September will be issued. It states that whoever exploded the bomb did not intend to kill Lord Ashtown or to seriously damage his house.
