LICENSING BOOKMAKERS.
FIXED BY THE DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB. Taking" into consideration the fact that a special meeting of the oonferenoe is to be held in January next, after some experience has bean gained as to «he working of the Gaming Act, it was decided to fix fees •and regulations as to licensing bookmakers at the summer meeting, as follows: — That bookmakers be licensed at a fee of £30 per day. Thai one clerk be allowed each- bookmaker, provided such clerk is not a bookmaker himself. That no bookmaker or his clerk be allowed on the grand stand or lawn. That no bookmaker's clerk be allowed to call the odds. That the license be produced to the stewards or club.'s officials whenever demanded. That the bookmaker produce and hand over his book to the stewards or club's ! official whenever required to do so. That no bookmaker be allowed to "bet after the notified time of starting each race. That licenses be granted only on condition that the bookmaker restrict his betting to the place set aside by the committee for that ' purpose. That all applications, accompanied with a deposit equal to on« day's fee, and tbe name of the clerk, be received until noon on Wednesday, 18th. No applications will be considered after that date.
