DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB.

The monthly meeting of the committee of the Dunedin Jockey Club was held on Thursday afternoon, and was attended by Messrs J. Hazlett (in the chair), J. Sinclair Thomson, S. Myers, L. C. Hazlett, Jas. Thomson, >P. Miller, K. Ewirig, and W. J. Coughlan. An apology was received from Mr Orbeil. The Canterbury Jockey dub reported that J«mes Pine's jockey's license had been suspended for three months for his misconduct. — Received. The Taieri Amateur Turf Club reported the action takqjri and decision in regard to the protest against Caveola at its htet meeting, which was approved. A letter was received from the Strath-Taieri Hack Racing Club asking* permission to hold a second meeting this eeason on March 23, and notifying that in future it would only hold one meeting a year, on that date. — Application granted. Letters were received from John Forbes and W. Henderson asking for removal of disqualifications for taking part at an unregistered meeting at Pine Bush. — Granted. In connection with the summer meeting on the 26th and 28th inst., it was decided that the first race start at 12.30 and the last at ' 6.15 each day ; that the tender of the Kaikorai Band be accepted; that a train service the same as last year be applied for; that as the Gaming Act provides that the totalisator shall be closed at the notified time of starting, electric bells will ring on both totalisatox buildings 10 minutes prior to closing, and again for three .minutes before closing, and when they cease ringing the totalisator will be closed. A letter was received from the Secretary of the Racing Conference forwarding a -copy of the correspondence between the president and Mr M, Barnett, and stating that a special meeting of the conference would be held at Wellington on January 23 to alter rules of racing ana take what steps were necessary to comply with the Gaming and Lotteries Act. — Received. Mr Millar was appointed one of the delegates to attend the conference, the second delegate to be appointed at next meeting. It was unanimously resolved— " That the date of the winter meeting be altered from Wednesday and Saturday, Brd and 6th June, to Wednesday and Thursday, 3rd and 4th June." The following licenses were granted: — Trainers— J. W. Bamber, F. J. Beale, J. W. ■Cotton, M. Allan, and C. J. Hey wood; jockeys— F. J. Beale, M. Allen, John Jllee. F. Thomson. J. Gray, H. Paul, W. Wilson, and Adam King. It was decided that tbe committee visit the course on Saturday next, leaving town by the 1.15 p.m. train.
