REBELLION IN CHINA
PORT DARWIN, December 12. Terrible atrocities are reported as having been perpetrated by the Chinese Imperial ' soldiery who are acting against the rebels !in the Ling-ehu»n and Fong-eheng districts. ! Seventy rebels who were captured were , all either beheaded or hod their ears ' cut off. Another party of 304 were slaughtered or burnt alive in a cave, whither they had retreated. . Later details state that the troops had* been badly beaten by the rebels, and that the insurrection, in the Kwang-si province, which began with some riots at Ling-shuan in the summer, is by no means ended.
