MISS FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE
■ m LONDON, December 11. The Kaiser sent Miss Florence Nightingale, through the German Ambassador, a bouquet and a letter of appreciation of her great services in nursing. I Florence -Nightingale, with her gallant i band of nurses, left for the Crimea on the 22nd October, 1854. Miss .Florence NightI ingale, the heroine of the campaign, raised : * corps of 38 nurses to tend the sick and ' wounded in the Crimea, and faced every privation, and hardship on her expedition of mercy. A national tersfcmonial of £50,000 was raised for her upon her return home, but, instead of applying it to private purposes, she generously used it to endow the nursing home which bears her name. Then 34 years of age, S|is» Florence Nightingale is now 87, and for some years has been an invalid, confined to her house in South street, Park Lane. But her mind is quite clear, and, she still follows anything to do with nursing with great keenness. £E«r- jmnie L 3 a.
