TARANKI OIL AND FREEHOLD COMPANY.
NEW PLYMOUTH. November 30.
The annual meeting of the Tar an at i Oil and Freehold Company was held last night. The report and balance sheet were adopted. Mr F. P. Corkill (reelected) and Mr G. W. Henderson (Wellington) were elected directors. One hnn« dred pounds wae voted to the chairman for the ensuing year, and £100 each to the other directors for the lart year. The manager stated that the bore was now down 254 ft. and there was an excellent chow of oil that afternoon, but that did not. betoken anything at present. Mnch more rapid progress wae now being made. A great blow-up occurred in the Birth* day well at the petroleum works this morning. A mixture of oil and water was thrown above the top of the derrick, and carried across the road en to the butter trucks at the freezing works eiding. Two or three minor blow-ups occurred* during the week. This is regarded as an excellent indication. , •
