T November 16. — The weather here lately has I been well suited for the carrying on of the r farm work generally done at this time of the year. The crops are all looking very well indeed, and the recent rains heve done much to improve the appearance of the fields andl . garden*. [ Show.— The Waimate show, which was held last week in almost ideal weather, was a most 1 successful one, and the Morven exhibitors 1 were very well pleased in the various classes. * In the grain classes Mir J. T. Kay secured * several firsts, while Messrs Meredith and * Corry were also .successful. Obituary. — On Friday afternoon Mr Murdoch Bruce, a young settler; passed away at b the early age of 84 years. I<t appears that th« : deceased took seriously ill about three weeks | ago, and though several doctors were can- ' sxi'ted, he grew gradually weaker, until th« ' end- came on Friday evening. Deceased leaves a young widow and a wide circle of friends J to mourn his death. The funeral took place 1 oa Sunday, and was very largely attended*. * The- service at the prave was conducted by ' th» Rev. R. Dickie, Presbyterian minister of 1 tbi3 congregation. ' Attraction*.— The Oamaiu show takes place * on Thursday and Friday of this week, and aa fc thi3 is a great attraction for the local farmers, ' Morven will be almost deserted on Friday.— ' The next local attraction is the sport* meet' ' ing, to be held on December 16. The prcr gramme is a mixed one, acd includes horr« "' races as well a* foot races. The trains stop - at Steward Park night and morrfug.
