j Novembei 18. — At the piesent time farmers c ' in this locality are- busy putting in* their turj nips. The ciops are looking exceptionally well, and there is every prospect >f a successful and profitable year for the farmers, j Grass has not been coining away co well aa _ it usually does, but this is probably aocountetT for by the exceptionally dry weather and the 1 wind, which has been so prevalent pinre the a beginning of October. The scarcity of grass i seems more common in the district from Otokia in Clarendon. However, to-day (Monday) a fine steady rain set in, which will mean, a lot to the farmers in bringing on their grass, and turnips which have already been ' I town. ' days. , New Arrival. — During the past month Mr I Frank Johnston has bought the 60-acre farm ' lately owned by Ms: Joseph Crane, and for1 nierly by Mr Fred Cook, of Edendale. Mr 3 Johnston© uas started dairying, and is send5 in? milk to the local creamery. In addition 1 to this he has put 30 acres- in oats and ' turnips for winter feed, and carries on his ' usual contract work for different farmers [ round about. J Dairying. — The milk supply is not aa good ' as it generally is at this time of the year. 1 At the Otokia factory Mr W. Bryant is tha * largest supplier. With a herd of 15 cows " h s sends daily about 6001b of milk. Messrs | Baird and Shore are about the next highest . suppliers.
