DEFENCE FORCES RIFLE ASSOCIATION.

WELLINGTON, December 8. The next meeting of the New Zealand Defence Forces Rifle Association takes place at Trontham on March 5. The programing, just issued, is on somewhat similar lin-es to those of previous meetings. The prize money, however, is considerably increased, the total amount being £1132, of which £203 is allotted to the final match for the belt. The money prizes in each of the first five matches have been increased in number from 43 to 70. with a total of £89 to each match, or a grand total of 400 prizes, of the value of £650. In the championship series the distances have been arranged so as to allow the inclusion of long-range shooting. Additional service matches are provided for, inrroducing for the first time " a moving target " and '• surprise targets."' Members of rifle clubs can take part in some of the Teams Matches, owing to the increased target accommodation which will be available. Colonel Collins hopes to carry the meeting through in five days. The Colonial Ammunition Company has provided two prizes for long-distance shooting.
