GREEN ISLAND.
The Green Island Rifles held a very enjoyable social on Friday night, the function being veil attended by the members of the company and their friends. Dancing was indulged in by a number of those present, and other amusements were provided dining the * evening. Advantage was taken of an interval to present the various prizes won during the shooting season, and also to present Captain. M'Donaad and Mrs M'Donald with a handsome pair of field glasses and a silvermounted epergne as a token of the respect and esteem in which they are held by the Volunteers of Green Island. Captain Aitchoson, in a feHeitous speech, in which he expressed the regret felt by the company at losing Captain M'Donald' s services, made Ih© presentations, and Captain M'Donald veiy appropriately replied for Mrs M'Donald and himself, Short congratulatory speeches were also given by the Mayor (Me W. Geddes) and Surgeon-captain WiPi pud Mr Barclay. Eefreshments were provided by the ladies, and heartily enjcyed by all present. The following are the lames of the recipients of prizes: — First match : Private D. Watson 1, Private .W. J. Crimp 2. Second Match: Private W. li. Crimp 1, Private James G-eddes 2, Private F. T. Crimp 3. Third Match: Corporal A. C. Crimp 1, Lieutenant W. E. M'Leaa 2, Private D. M. Fastier 3. Fourth Match: Private I>. M Fastier 1, Lieutenant W. E. M'Lean 2, Private F. T. Crimp 3. Fifth Match: Sergeant "VV. Miller 1, Private D. M. Fastier 2, Private E. Leece 3. Sixth Match: Private F. T. Crimp 1, Private E. Leece 2, Corporal A C. Crimp 3. Champion shot for the season. JSO4-5: Private W. H. T. Crimp 'gold medal and championship belt). Messrs J. Ml/san (piano) and J. Marshall provided th«> music, and Privates Ecss and M. Allan acted efficiently as M.C's. The Volunteers desire to thank all the ladies who, by their kind assistance, contributed to the success of the evening.
