WEST TAIERI
A joint meeting of the "West Taieri and Otokia Drainage Boards was held in the Otokia Drainage Board's office, the members present being— Messrs Bruce, Dow, and Metaal (Weßt -Taieri), Gibson, Souness, Shennan, and Reid (Otokia). Mr Souness was voted to the chair, me business was the opening of tenders for scouring and deepening the oanal on the main water course. The following tenders were received:—S. Hoddinott, £1 Us 9d per chain; W. Bryant, 13s per chain, £234 13s, and bank, formation, -6s per chain, £54; total, £288 13s. It was unanimously agreed to accept Mr Bryant's tender. It was decided that the engineer be asked for plans and specification for banking through Reid'a and M'Kenzie's properties. A general meeting of the Otokia Drainage Board was also held. A resolution was passed by the board authorising the clerk to sue for rates in the name of the board when necessary, and it was resolved to enforce the 10 per cent, penalty on all arrears of - rates.
