CLEARING SALE NEAR GREEN ISLAND BUSH.
Tbo Otago Farmers' Co-operatire Association of New Zealand (Limited) report:— We held a clearing sale of dairy cows and dairying plant, horses, implements, etc., on nccoinit of Mrs M'Caughan at her homestead, near Green Island, on Thursday, tbe Bth June. There was a good attendance of farmers and olheis interested in tlijs class of business, Tlie
vendor being well known in the district and a popular neighbour, combined with the fact that she had previously disposed of her farm and in consequence the stock sale was to be absolutely unreserved, had the effect of bringing together a large gathering. The cows were in fair condition, and those in full milk or close to calving met with good competition, and realised good values. Others not approaching a condition to show an immediate return on capital were considerably neglected ; feed not being over plentiful was no doubt the cause. Best cows realised from £5 to £8; back calvers, £3 to £4 10s; horses, implements, and dairy utensils, satisfactory pieces.
