OAMARU PRODUCE AND STOCK MARKET.
OAMARU, June 11. Business in the wheat market is still confined to small lines, the only exception this week being a considerable parcel which has been sold for June, July, and August delivery at a price which is understood to be a slight advance on current rates. The demand for Tuscan has not been so keen, but some sales have taken place at 2s lOd at country stations, less commission; 2s lid having been given in one case for a parcel, to be placed on truck' at a station south of Oamaru. Velvet has | found purchasers at 2s 9d and 2s 9Jd, and in on© or two instances at 2s lOd, and red chaff Cfor which there has been more inquiry) at 2s 8d and 2s BJd, all on the terms mentioned. Local millers have purchased at 2s fid < and 2s BJd net to the growers for good average samples. The market is, however, affected by the London reports, and inquiries in the last day or two have been on reduced lines, 2s B£d, less commission, being the best offer obtainable for one sample.
Any lots of oats that are offered find purchasers at Is 6d to Is 7d for Gartons, 15~5%d to Is 6d, and in one case Is 6Jd, for Danish, and Is B£d and Is 9d for duns and black oats.
The potato market has hardened,"and sales have been made at £5 5s to £5 10s less commission, at sidings, while £6 f.o.b. Oamaru has also been realised for some small parcels. During tho week the Wanaka visited the port and took 13,000 tons of wheat, oats, potatoes, and manufactured produce, mostly for Auckland.
Eggs have advanced to Is 6d again, but the market is easier to-day.
In the stock market the principal inquiry is for forward store hoggets at late quotations.
