June 12. — The current month ushered in ai severe snowstorm, accompanied by a strong gale of wind. tha.fi swept all before it, for a period of two days' duration, and it goes without saying that iij has exit up the stock in the outlying parts of the district most unmercifully. Coming all such an early period in the season, the storm' that raged here during tho past week has struck a severs blow to the stock all ever the district, and it will be felt for some time to come. The stock
owners, however, on the other hand have, in many instaucie-s, a large supply of fodder stored tap for -winter requirements to feed their stock in a case of emorgtency during a period when then supplies are likely to be cut off by the winter storms.
Money Ordor Office. — It is much to be regretted that the great want of a money order office being established at Hindon under liie supervision of our worthy postmaster, Mr Jarn.es Eutherford, was not brought by some prominent resident under the notice of Mr Dwald! Reid, jun., the member for tho Taieri electorate, wben'he addressed the electors here a short time since. Howsver, it is not too late even now. as Parliament is not yet in session at Wellington. Probably Mr D. M'Donald would bring this matter under our member's notice prior to Mr Eeid leaving for Wellington. The Postmaster-gianera-l could then be ap'oroacbeti with » view to having a ironey order office opened at Hindon at an early date for the receipt and despatch of small Finns of money to and! from the district.
