Messrs Thos. Paterson and Co., auctioneers, fruit and produce agents, report for the week ended Tuesday, May 3, as follows: —
The market is barely supplied with, apples and pears. Oranges : Islands, 6in cases, 3s to 4s; 9in cases', 4s to ss. Lemons: Mildura, 12s to 12s 6d (market bare). Bananas: Shipment from Sixva arrived on Monday, and- sold at 10s 6d to 12s 8d per case. "Pineapples (wanted), 12s to 15s pca 1 case. Tomatoes : Ghristchurch hothouse, 6id ; locallygrown, 7£d; outside, Id to 3£d.. t PI tuns are in short supply. Peach.es, 2d to 4d ; extra choice, 3£d to «ld. Apples: Cooking, 3s 6d to 6s 6d per case ; dessert. 5s to 9s 6d. Bla-ckberries : Buckets, 4Jd to 3Jd per lb. Giapes^Gd to Is €d. Pie melons, 5s to 6s 6d. Produce. — Potatoes : Kidneys, £5 to £5 ss ; Oaniaru Derwents, £4 15s to £5. Onions, £8 to £10. Butter: Fresh., 6Jd to 74 d; separator, 9d to lOd per lb. Bacon, 6J.d to 7*cL Hams, 7*d to Bd. Pigs, 3id to 4d per ib." Poultry : In fair demand. Roosters, 3s to 4s ; liens, 2s to 3s; ducks, 3s to 4s; turkeys, wanted.
