SANDWICHES

These are now made of every kind for afternoon tea. Cucumber sandwiches should only have the least suspicion of bvitter on the bread, as the greasiness does not go well with the watery vegetable. Watercress or mustard-and-cr-ess shoiild be finely minced before putting between the bread, or the long strands of green •will be found awkward when biting the sandwiches. Sandwiches look twice as tempting if they are neatly cut and trimmed or cut into fancy shapes; and this is very little more trouble.
