RIGH CLIFF.
The-annual Christmas tree entertainment in connection with the Highcliff and Sandymount Sunday Schools came off on Friday, 23rd inst., in the Sandymount Hall. There was a very good attenuance. The church choir was much in evidence, and rendered several selections very nicely. Two items put up by the girls of the Sandymount and Highcliff Sschools respectively were really well done. Solos were given by Mrs Rogers, Miss Aitken, and Mr James_ Robertson.- A ladies' hat trimming competition for gentlemen excited keen interest, anal from a good number of competitors Mr Duncan Stewarc emerged as winner. The hats were afterwards disposed of by Dutch auction. Tea was then provided, after which the most interesting feature, from the children's point of view — viz., the stripping of the tree, — was proceeded with, and the result was apparently pleasing to all. Votes of thanks were accorded to the teachers of the schools for theii labours among the children. Much regrei was felt at the .absence of the Rev. John Erwin through illness.
