PENINSSULA.

A special meeting of the Peninsula Road Board, held on Thursday 22ud inst., was attended by Messrs M'Ourdy (chairman), Reekie, Walker, Black, and W. Robertson. Mr Walker objected to the latter portion of minute of last meeting re Mr Begg's letter concerning Bayfield Toad. After discussion it was deoided on the motion of Mr Walker, seconded by Mr Keekie, that the latter portion of the minute be struck out. The financial position of the board was considered, when it •was decided that half the number of men be dismissed from the works at Anderson's Bay on the 24th inst. Mr White, solicitor, wrote on behalf of the trustees of Centra property, offering to the board an extra Sft of land for road widening. — The board decided to thank -Messrs White, Begg, Sim, and Cutten for their assistance to the board in granting the 15ft of land for road widening. The board approved of the cbairman'o action in the above matter. Messrs Noyes Bros wrote re the removal of the stone wall at Mr Lee Smith's. Anderson's Bay. — The Chairman reported that the matter was now in hand. A letter from i£r Stenhouso re busses and electric trams was received. Tha motion of last meeting re solicitors' costs for Main road, at Mr Barron's property, was further allowed to stand over till next meeting- — The chairman, Messrs Robertson an 3 Reekie were appointed to wait, upon Mr Barron with referer.ee to this matter. "Mr Johnstone forwarded an account for £2, being compensation for crop destroyed by road widening.—

It was decided that the amount be paid. A piroular was received from the Department of Labour re shc-p closing, the chairman was a-p-pointed to interview the shopkeepers in Anderson's Bay with reference to this matter. It was decided that a- meeting be convened at an early date in Anderson's Bay to discuss the advisability of taking the necessary steps to secure the extension of tha electrio tramway to (Samuel's store, as originally intended. Accounts -were passed for payment for JEI4O -ts 9d. - ■
