Boyd, the owner of Mountain Maid, was fined £1 for interfering after the horse had left the paddock; and F. Eoacli, a jockey, was fined £1 tor speaking to a cpeci tator while on the course.
At the second day of the Westport Trotting Club's meeting there was a large attendance, and the sum of £2392 was put through the machine, making £6013 for the meeting. Mountain Maid (£4 2s) won the Electrio Handicap. J. M'Leiinan, rider of Amusement, arid the hcrse Amusement were disqualified for three months for alleged pulling and not tryirg to ■win. Torpedo II (£1 19s) won the Granity Handicap; Hassan (£3 4s) the Buller Handicap; -Miss Braeburn (£1 15s) the District Handicap, Platform, who was second, paying £i 2s. Vauxhall (£4 18s) won the Ladie3' Bracelet : Dolly Varden II (£2 6s) the Recovery Handicap.
