SALE OF A CLYDESDALE MARE.
The reputation of Tokomairiro as a stock- , raising centre (writes our Milton correspondent) , has been further exemplified within the past week by the sale to a Canterbury buyer of one of the best mares in the district. Look- , ing round for a good specimen of a Clydesdale, Mr Wyllie (of Wyllie Bros., Rangiora), ; traversed the Taieri and went as far south -, as Invercargill in search, of his ideal, only to . return to Mr Alex. Allison's Southbridge Farm and claim the best to be obtained. ; That he has got something to do credit to the • Rangiora district is amply proved when it is mentioned that the beast in question is a four-year-old by Herd Laddio cut of Moss Rose.- and when shown at the Clutha and Tokomairiro shows was awarded "first and champion.- The fact of his mare (Red Rose) being chosen before all others speaks volumes for Mr ..Alison's experience in horse-raising, and when, after visiting Mr Patrick's entire (Pride of Newtown) at the Taieri, her progeny comes to see the show ring the Rangiora district may well congratulate itself upon Mr Wyllis's choice.
