(Limited) report •s follows:— We held our usual fortnightly sale of hides at our stores, Vogel and Cumberland streets, on Thursday, 15th December, •when we submitted an average catalogue to a limited number of buyers. All -classes of bides met with a ready sale, and prices throughout were much firmer than those •- obtained at our last sale. For light hides there is still a splendid demand, and 4|d was obtained for an ox hide weighing 321b. For heavy and 'medium weights keen competition was experienced, and we cleared the lot 'at highly satisfactory prices. A line of cow hfcea averaging 421b' realised 5d per lb. We quote: Extra stout prime ox, s|d to 6Jd'; heavy do, sJd' to s|d; medium do, 4£d to sid;' light, 4d to 4gd; extra- stout heavy cows, 4Jd to 5Jd; medium do,-4Jd to 4gd; light do, 4Jd to 4Jd; etags and bulls, 2d to 3s per lb; yearlings, 2s Gd to 6s; calfskins; Is to 3s each. Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows:— We held our usual fortnightly hide sale in our Maclaggan -street stores on Thursday, -the 15th inst., wh^en ,we offered a fair , catalogue to a representative gathering of trade. , Our total offering was 284, com- - prising "190 ox hides, 33 cow hides, 53 calfskins, , and 8 yearlings. We / had rio lots of heavy-weight ox of good siibstance forward for-" this sale; and, taken all round, our catalogue was the' poorest as regards quality that we,, have had for some considerable time. 1-idding was' spirited throughout our entire sale, and prices paid were right up to late ruling rates. Messrs A. Moritzson and Co. beg to report on their fortnightly sales of hides held at their stores on Thursday, when we offered a large catalogue to a fair attendance of buyers. Competition was very keen for everything under offer, and prices realised showed a slight improvement on those ' paid a fortnight ago, owing to the Australian markets being much firmer, and also on account of the limited supplies that are offering. Although we had no exra prime ox to offer, we obtained over 5d psrlb for several lots, and cleared the whole of our catalogue without any difficulty. Messrs Ritchie, and Co. report having held (their usual fortnightly sale of hides at their stores on Thursday. The attendance of buyers was hardly so large as usual, but, notwithstanding this, competition •waa particularly keen; and prices ruled from par to id per lb above those of last sale. As of late, light-weights were in special request, and we placed a line of cow hides averaging 421b at sd. We quote : Extra, stout prime ox, s|d to 6£d; heavy do. 5d to 5Jd; medium do, 4|d to 4gd; light ox and cows, 4£d~to sd; etcut heavy cows, 4Jd to sd ; medium do, 4d to 4|d; yearlings, 3id to 4Jd per lb; calfskins, Is 6d to '4s 6d each. (Limited) report as follows: — We held our fortnightly sale of hides at our stores, Cumberland and Vogel streets, on Thursday, the 15th inst., when we submitted a, fair-sized catalogue. The attendance of buyers was not as large as usual, but competition was brisk throughout, and late values •were -well maintained, and prices realised, especially for light* hides, show a, decided upward tendency. Our top price for ox was 6d, and for cow hides 4|d. The following are a few of our best sales: — Ox: One 711b, 6d; cne 761b, s|d; one 661b, s|d; one 611b, 5Jd; one 611b, sd; two 381b, 4Jd; two 391b, 4|d. Cow: One 381b. 4gd; one 361b, 4|d; two 441b, 4gd; two 521b, 4|d; four 521b, 4gd; one 571 b, 4|d; three 471b, 4Jd. Yearlings to 8s each; calfskins to 2s lOd each. Messrs Stronach, Morris, and Co. report as follows: — We held our fortnightly sale of hides at our stores, Crawford street, on Thursday, 15th inst., when there was a smaller Attendance of buyers present than has lately been the case. Those present, however, were there to do business, and we had a very successful sale. Heavy stout ox hides were on a par with iate xates, but both medium and light veight hides we're higher by at least Jd per lb .Our top price for ox hides was 6d, at •which figure we sold two lines averaging 731b and 671b. We also secured 53d for two lots and s|d and s|d for several others. In cow •hides we were fortunate in selling one lightWeight line at od, and several others at 4|d and 4fd. There . was the usual "attendance of buyers, and the bidding was brisk throughout.
