Messrs Donald Reid and Co. (Limited) report : — We held our weekly auction sa,le of - gram and produce at our stores, on Monday. There was good competition throughout, and every lot offered found buyers at quotations'. Prices ruled as under: — " r

Oats. — There has been steady demand for a^l" good sound lines of Gartons coming forWaid. "A " and " B " grade sparrowbills also have more attentioi, and although sales of these are not so readily effected) a 9 in the case of Gartons, there is little difficulty in dealing with any lets offering- at quotations. . Lower grades, which have been neglected of late, are also in better demand. Quotations : Prime milling, Is 7d to Is 8d; good to best feed, Is 5Jd to Is 6Jd ; medium, Is 3d -to Is 4id per bushel (sacks extra).

Wheat. — Only the best lines of milling quality find any favour with millers at present, medium grades having been left severely alone for some time. Fowl wheat has gocd demand, both -.locally and for export. Stocks of this are now in smaller compasSr-and any good lines are readily quitted on arrival. Quotation^jPrime milling, 3s 6d to 3s 8d ; medium to gooc^ 3s 2d to 3s sd ; whele fowl wheat, 3s to 3s Id ; broken and damaged, 23 7d to 2s lid per bushel (sacks extra).

Potatoes — With short supplies, and a good demand, prices have again advanoed, and to-day best Derwents sod at £4 10s to £4 las; medium, £4 to £4 7s 6d; others, £3 10s to £4 per ton (bags in). Chaff. — Primo eaten sheaf continues to arrive sparingly, and for all bright heavy lines there ia ready sale Medium quality, although not so strongly in favour, is also quitted without difficulty. Quotatipns: Choice, bright oaten sheax, £4 to £4 ss; medium to good, £3 10s to £4 p*r Ton (bags extra).

Straw. — Quotations: Wheaten and oaten, 30a to 35s per ton (pressed).

Messrs Dalgety and Co. (Limited) report as follows: — We held our weekly sale of grain, etc., at oiir stores on Monday. A small catalogue was offered to a good attendance of buyers, and competition throughout was good, nearly every lot being quitted at auction. Prices ruled as under: —

Oats. — Any oats offering during the week were readily taken up at quotations. Shipners here, however, having fair-sized orders are depending on fulfilling same either from lines available in the country ox shipping from the Bluff. A few lines' left in the local stores are, for the most part, held on farmers' account, with reserves on same somewhat above market values. Quotations : Prime milling, la 7d to Is Sd ; good to best feed, Is 5d to Is 6id ; medium and inferior, Is 3d to Is 4d per bus~hel (sacks extra).

Wheat.— The market is still in a stagnant state. Millers purchases are confined to small lets of prime quality for mixing purposes. Primp milling is not in demand, and is hard to quit at anything above fowl wheat prices. <;rood whole fowl wheat is still in request, both for local consumption and coastal shipment. Quotations : Prime milling (nominally)," 3s 6d! to 3s 9d; medium do, 3s 2d to 3s sd; wholo fowl wheat, 3s to 3s Id; broken and damaged do, 2s Cd to 2s lOd per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes. — Freshly picked Derwents of good quality are eagerly sought after, and any coming forward meet with a good sale at a, considerable advancs on last week's values. Quotations: Prime Derwents, £i 6s to £4 15s; others, £3 15s to £4 2s 6d (bags in). Chaff.— Ccnsignments during the past week were again light, and prices for prime oaten sheaf are firm at quotations. For one Truck of extra prime oaten sheaf we on Monday obtained £4 8s per ton at auction. Quotations: Prims oaten sheaf, £4 to £4 5s ; extra do, £4 8s ; lifidiuru do, £3 10s to £3 15s per ton (baga extra).
