INVERCARGILL D.L.F. LITERARY AND DEBATING CLUB.
Dear Dot, — A special meeting of the committee of the Invercargill D.Ij.F. Literary and Debating Society was held in the Oddfellows' Mall, Tay street, on evening, December 14. There were presemb, the president (Southlaaid Cynic), Ceres, Riina, and Zealia. It was decided to ask members to contribute a small monthly subscription, to defray the cost of gas, etc. As a number of little folk have requested that our meeting night be changed to Saturday, instead of Wednesday, evening, it was resolved that a vote be taken to ascertain which evening would suit the majority; therefore, will all D.L.F. who can possibly attend our meetings at any time record their votes, which are to reach, the secretary not later than Wednesday, January 11. Little folk are also reminded that Wednesday, January 11, is our open meeting, and the members of the Dunedm Club, as well as country D.L.F., are invited to send: in papers on any subject they may choose. SOUTHLAISTD D.L.P. PICNIC
Dear Dot, — The committee of the Invercergill D.Ii.F. I/iterary and Debating Society have decided to hold, a, grand united D.L.F. picnic at Riverton on Boxing Day, December 26. The D.L.F. of Invercargill and the surrounding district will meet at the Invercargiil railway station, and will be joined by the Winton line contingent at Makarewa, and later on by the Western District L.F. at Riverton. It is understood that the girls will faring baskets,, hot water being provided
at the picnicking ground. Over 30 country D.L.J?. have already signified their intention of being present, and all are cordially invited to attend. If the day proves very wet, instead of holding a picnic, a social will be held m the Oddfellows' Hall, Tay street. —

[I sincerely hope thai the day may prove very fine, and that the picnic may rival in success that of the Outram Gle-n. At the same time the InvercaTgill Club are wise in providing alternative for ins of amusement, thus preventing disappointment. — DOT.J
