THE PROPOSED MILTON PICNIC.

Deal Dot, — I hope that in writing this I will not be encroaching upon the Old Writers' Week, for it is simply to nwuke fuither arrangements about the xiicnic Jessica wrote to you about. We arraaiged at the Milton s.kow with the Milton" D.L.F. about the place where we would hold it, and decided on a place called Quarry Bush, about two mi'-es from ililton railway station. Some of the L.F. about Muton have kindly agreed to nieet both the north and south morning trains, and escort any ju.P. who are strangers to the place to the picnic giound. They have also consented to provide tea, milk, and sugar, so that L.P. coming from a distance will not the bother of carrying those articles. The Dunedm L.F. could come by the ex-press train which gets into Milton about J. 0.30 a.m., so they could have a good long -day, as the train does not leave again at night till about 6 o'clock. As Jessica has already said, the place is very central for the Kaitangata., Olutha, Owaka, and Lovell's Plait L.F. from the south, and Dunedin, Mosgiel, and other places from the north; and then there are the Lawrence and Waitahuna L.P., so I think if there was a number from each place it should be a monster picnic. All L.F. and their friends are invited, no admission, but free to ail; so I hope that if the" 31st of December turns out a good day, it should, be the means of bringing together a large crowd of happy, smiling faces (Witness smile, of oourse). Now, I'll close, hoping to see a large turnout of L.P. at tlus proposed picnic, and among them, — Yours truly.

P.S.— The 31st of December is the day fixed for the picnic. Don't forget the 31st, the last day of Leap Year. — R.

[Wait-ahunaite also writes on- this- question, advocating the advantages of Mt. Stuart and of Boxing Day, but as the time and place seem to have been definitely fixed for December 31 asid Quarry Bush, no doubt Waitahunaite -will fall in with that arrangement. — DOT.]
