PORTOBELLO.
Ju'y 29. — The monthly meeting of the Portobello Road Baard, held on Saturday, was attended by Messrs Dickson (chairman), Geary, Hinkly, Milne, Macandrew, Bacon, North, and Seaton.
The Inspector reported that all the roads blocked by the recent slips were now open for traffic, but the greater part of the debris has still to be removed, as only a passage for carts had been made. The work had been of ft very difficult nature owing to the presence of stumps and trees in the debris. He recommended that 50 yards of metal be spread between the Waverley jetty and Turn bull's old place.— lt was agreed to have the metal spread.
The lesidents of Vauxhall complained of trees overhanging the roads in that township. - The inspector was instructed to notify «11 owners of property where trees obstruct the streets to have them trifnmed sufficiently or cut down.
A rate of Jd in the pound was levied on all rateable property in the diatiict, payable in one sum on the first day of August next.
