DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS.
Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows : —
Saturday was practically an off day in this branch of our business. Very few horses were offered, and only three or four changed hands ; but this was only to be expected in view of our gieat annual horse fair, which takes place on Thursday, Fiiday and Saturday next. The entries are the largest we have ever had for this important fixture, and as they include consignments from the leading breeders of Clydesdales and light horses in Otago and Southland, there can be no doubt that the sale will attract a, grea.t concourse of buyers. We quote: — Superior young draught gfldmgs, £40 to £50 , extra good, prize horses, £52 to £60; medium draught mares and geldings, £28 to £35 ; aged do, £20 to £25 ; upstanding carriage horses, £25 to £35 ; well-matched carriage pairs, £60 to £80; strong spring-van horses, £24 to £30; milk-cart and butchers' ordei-cart horses, £16 to £20; tram horses, £12 to £13; light hacks, £8 to £15; extra good harks, £18 to £30; weedy and aged hacks and harness horses, £2 to £5.
