JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP,
-JPrivateers.def eated Hendley on. the Oval by l! runs on the first innings. • Privateers, winning the toss', batted first, but only made 34 runs (O'Connor 10). *; Hendley, onjyoing to the wickets, made a poor stand, .eight wickets being down for 12 runs, and the innings closing for 23. In bowling, R. Miller (eight " wickets for 11 runs) and R. Wardrop (one for 11) did well for the Privateers, and Restieaux and Wallace bowled well for Hendley. The match between Albion No. 1 and High School resulted in a win for the Albion by 19 runs. The former, batting first, scored 91, the chief contributors being Thomson (28), Hobertson (17), Morgan (12 not out), and Scott (10). The School Avith 72. •Campbell (22 not out) played a careful innings, and he was ably supported by Adams (20) and ScotJ (11). Peake (five wickets for 26) and Ritchie (three for 23) bowled best for the Albion, Campbell and Adams dividing the bowling honours for the High School. The match Carisbrook D v. Albion No. 2 was played on the North ground, when victory Tested with the former by 87 runs. Albion batted first, and made 50 runs, Kay (17), Macdonald (13), and Kennard (12) being the chief scorers. Carisbrook replied with 137, all but three men reaching double figures. The principal scorers were Mirams (32), Tapley (29)-, Harraway (21), and Cohen (15 not out). For Albion, Hintz (four for 20) bowled best, while Maitland (seven for 15) bowled well for Carisbrook. The match Roplyn v. Dunedin No. 3 was played at Bishopscourt. Roslyn won the toss, "and, going in, were not disposed of until their total had reached 157.-. H. Wilkinson (77 not out) batted splendidly, and -was.afcly assisted -by Banks (24) V Sparrow. (14), Jamieson (11), Williamson (11), and Howison (10). Burke '(four wickets) was the most successful of the [Dunedin bowlers. Dunetlin -made a jpoor stand, and at the call oi time had lost seven "wickets for 36, Melville (13) and Bundle (12 -not out) reaching double figures. " For Roslyn Clark (five wickets for 23) and H. Fisher (two for 13) bowled well. - Dunedin No. 1 claim the match against Carisbrook U by default, the latter failing to put in an appearance.
