DUNEDIN SEE HOUSE.
. A contract has been let for tlie erection of a See House for the dioce&e of Dunedin to Mr George Greaves, tlie price being some- j thing over £2000. The building will stand in the orchard of the property formerly ; known as Anderson's Mill, in the Woodhaugh j Valley. It is to bo a two-storsy brick structure, capable of being converted into a threestorey building with attic?. It will be built in the old English style of architecture, with projecting eaves and gables half timbered. The main roof will be tiled, the roofs over the doors and window.s being covered with ruberoid — a material which has not yet been much used in the construction of buildings in this city. The front of the building, which will face towards the north, will be 76ft in length. It v.ill be lighted by 25 casement windows, the upper parts of which will be filled with cathedral glass in lead lights. There will be a large porch neair the centre, with a pair of old English doors, the side lights of the porch being filled, like the upper portion 'of the casement windows, with cathedral glass. The building will contain 11 living rooms, besides a number of
minor rooms, such as pantries, bathrooms, dressing rooms, etc. The greater part of the interior of the building, including the ceilings, is to be panelled, every room being worked to a different pattern. In the hall, which will be lofty and spacious, and have a wide and handsome staircase leading to the \xpper storey, will be built so as to show the joists, and the whole of the interior of the building will be unpainted, so as to show the grain of the wood, which will be merely oiled. The building has been designed by Mr H. M. Davey, Mr H. F. Hardy acting as consulting architect on behalf of the See Hou£e Committee.
