July 29. — We are having winter now without a doubt. Snow and hail and heavy frosts make it very hard indeed for the live stock, especially in the open paddocks. Where cattle can get in the bush, however, they do very well ir the winter months, both for food and shelter. Scholastic. — Oui school has reopened after a short holiday. It seems a pity that the longer holidays could not be arranged to take place in winter, when the weather and roads are so bad. The resulting pool attendance is not at all satisfactory for the teachers. .
