LAND BOARD.

The meeting of the Land Board on Wednesday was attended by the Chief Commissioner (Mr J. P. Maitland) and Messrs Clark, Dallas, Kirkpatrick and Duncan.

Mrs Johanna Coyle applied for exemption from residence upon, section 20, block" XI, Maniototo, held by her .on lease in perpetuity. — Declined, as residence must be complied with. E. C. Cutten, on behalf of Edward Wells, applied tc be allowed to exchange occupation license over 100 acres' in block VIII, Upper Taieri, for lease in perpetuity. — Agreed to, conditional upon application being advertised as required by Mining Districts-Land Occupation Act. \

Eanger Hughan reported upon the application of John Young for license to occupy about 8 acres of mining reserve adjoining section 67, block VI, Tuapeka West.— Granted at yearly rental of 6d per acre, with license fee. Mi E. Smith's application for license to occupy section 135, block 11, Ardgowan, was declared lapsed.

James Bailey applied for license over Runs 137, 137b, 137 c, and 137 d, Beaumont, up to' Ist September next. — Granted for three months from Ist June at rental of £10, with license fee.

The question of grouping and opening the following land in three or four lots was referred to ilr Kirkpatrick and the ranger when in the district-— Sections 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24, block 111, Poolburn. The following applications were approved: — For rural land on 0.R.P., section 24, block VII, Naseby, David Messeut. To transfer fease in perpetuity over section 10& block 11,

Oamaru (Ardgowan estate) from Anthony Marshall to Robert and Jessie Scott. To transfer portion of lease in perpetuity to her Majesty the Queen, for water reserve, 151, village homestead, James Healey, 30 poles of section 23, block XVI, Maniototo.

The following applications were referred to the ranger for report: — To surrender lease in perpetuity 114, village homestead, section 43, block VII, Woodland, Peter Furse; section 11, block VII, Woodland, Janet E. Baird. To determine how section 25, block 111, and section 21, block VII, Manioloto, lately held under license by R. F. Inder, shall be dealt with. To surrender lease in perpetuity over section 82, block VIII, Makareao estate, James Rice. To s'arrender lease in perpetuity over section 80, block VIII, s?me district, j. Dalziell.

Ranger Mackenzie forwarded an application from John M'Henry for license to cut firewood, etc., over 20 acres at Glacier Creek, Dart district. — Granted, under section 49, of Forest Regulation Act, to cut firewood at Is per cord and posts and rails at Ss per 100.

Ranger Hughan reported upon the application by Findlay Munro, jun., and James RO3S for ijortions of the mining reserve in block X, Waitahuna West. — Yearly license granted to James Ross over 20 acres, novth-vfest comer of reserve, adjoining hi 3 occupation license, at a rental of 6d per acre, and license fee of £1 Is. Similar license granted to F. Munro over remainder of reserve at a rental of 7s 6d.

The Under-secretary for Lands wrote intimating that application by A. E. "Wilde to surrender pastoral lease over section 23, block VIII, Table Hill, has not been agreed to.— Licensee to be informed accordingly. Ranger Hughan reported upon sections 18 and 21, block V, Table Hill, lately held by Alexander Sutherland as a small grazing run. — To be grouped and offered as small grazing run at rental of 5d per acre, with valuation for improvements £114 19s.

James Hartstonge's application to transfer part of his pastoral lease over section's 19, 20, and 21, block V, Budle, to John M'Rae was agreed to, rental of each portion to be as formerly. ' Miss Ethel R. Benjamin', on behalf of A. H. Chapman, executor of the will of the late J. Wilson, applied for the issue of a lease in perpetuity over section 16, block IV, Kurow, in the name of the executor. — Granted.

It was resolved to inform the licensees of the Horse Flat mining reserve that their licenses will not be renewed until the fencing agreed upon by them with the ranger is erected.
