WEEKLY MARKET REPORT.

Messrs Moritzson and Hopkin report for week ending April 19: —

Wheat. — There is a fair demand for prime samples, but other descriptions are hard t© place. Fowl feed is readily placed at quotations. We quote: Best velvet, 2s 4d to 2s 6d; best Tuscan, 2s 3d to 2s 4d ; fowl wheat, Is lid to 2s. Oats : Arrivals have not been heavy, and all coming forward have met with a ready sale at quotations. We quote: Best feed, Is 3£d; medium and inferior, Is Id to Is 3d per bushel; Sutherlands, Is sd. Barley: Feed sorts are quoted at Is Gd to Is 9d ; milling, Is lOd to 2s; prime malting, 2s 9d to 3s 4d; medium, 2fe 4d to 2s 3d. Ryecorn, 3s. Flour: We quote £7. Oatmeal in 25' a, £8. Pearl barley, £12. Bran, £2 10s. Pollard, £3 10s. Nelson hojas are quoted at 7d to lid (f.0.b.). Chaff: Scarce. Prime, £2 15s; medium,- £2 5s to £2 12s 6d. Ryegrass: Few sales are being made here, farmers being inclined to hold in the meantime, to see if prices will improve. Buyers* ideas of values are from Is 3d to Is 7d for ordinary farmers' dressed seed, and up to 2s for exceptionally good samples. We quote": Farmers' dressed, Is 3d to Is 3d; machined, 2s Gd to 3s. Cocksfoot, 2Jd to 3Jd for farmers' lots, and 4Jd to 5d for machined. Linseed (wanted), £12. Pressed straw, 255. Clover hay, £3 to £3 10s. Nitrate of soda, £15. Clovers, rape, etc., all fresh. We can offer all classes of seeds puro and fresh.

Potatoes. — Arrivals have been he^vy and prices are easier. Kidneys, 27s 6d to 30s ; Derwents, 37s 6d to -12s 6d.

Hides, ljd to 4Jd, according -to weight and condition. We have a special inquiry, and can guarantee top pi ices. Tallow: Bough f«t, 9s to 11s; lendered, 10s 6d to 15s, according to quality. Horsehair, Is 2d. , Sheepskins. — We offered a large catalogue at our usual sale on. Tuesday. Competition was very active and prices showed an advance all round. Fine-woolled skins were in special request and brought extreme prices. We sell by auction every Tuesday. Rabbitskins. — No sales were held this week, but prices remain firm at late quotations. We undertake country clearing sales. FKUI7 AKD PRODUCE REPORT.

Butter cases with parchment, 18s per dozen. Butter. — Prime dairy, 8d per lb; milled, 7Jd to 8d for choice. Please note consignors of butter must consign to us, Duriedin, not Port Chalmers. Home shipments now stopped. Cheese: Factory, 4£d; good Akaroa, 4d. Pigs. — For good . quality, to 4Jd. Poultry received for &ale any day. Boosters, 2s 9d to 3s; hens, 2s; ducks, 3s to 4s per pair. These quotations are for prime quality. We hold auction sales of grain and produce every Monday, and fruit daily.

FRUIT AND PRODUCE REPORT. Messrs Thomas Paterson and Co. repoi i, April 19 : —

Fruit. — Market still fairly supplied with good fruit. Choice fruit is wanted. Plums, 2cl to 2Jd per lb for good to prime. Tomatons : Firmer, ljd to 2Jd ; hothouse, 4d. Apples : Cooking, ljd to 2d; inferior, 2s to 3s per case; dessert, 2d to 2jd. Pears : Best sorts, 2d to Jd ; cookers, lid to 2d ; inferior, almost unsaleable. ""Quinces, lid to ljd. Pie- melons, JB3 10s to £1 10s per ton. Grapes, Cd to 9d. Oranges : Good supplies, 6s Gd to 7s Gd. Bananas: Market bare; 2Jd. Peaches, 2d to 3Jd. Lemons: Italian, 22s 6d.

Produce. — Fresh butter (in good demand), 7d to 8d ; prime salt (wanted), 7Ad to BJd ; factory, 9£d. Eggs barely supplied. Bacon: Roll, Hd to 7£d. Htuus, Sd. Pigs, 4Jd. Cheese: Factory, 4Jd; farmers', 3hd to Id. Onions, £4. Potatoes . Kidneys, 27s 6d to 35s per ton ; Derwents", 37s Cd to 455.

Poultry. — Hens, 2s to 2s Gd; roosters, 2s 9d to 3s 6d ; ducks, 3s to 4s. Turkeys : Hens, 6d ; cocks, 8d to 9d. Wo receive any day for sale, and can place immediately on arrival.
