THE STELLA DISASTER.

♦ i LONDON, April 3. The stewardess of the Stella, named Rogers, continued to give out lifebelts, and refused to go into the boats. She was amongst the drowned. One of the Stella's passengers happened to be holding a football at the time the vessel foundered. Though drawn into the vortex of the sinking vessel he was saved. Miss Greta Williams, a vocalist, sang " O rest in the Lord " during the night the boat was in the fog, and was cheered by the other survivors. April 4. The Rev. Mr Clutterbuck was kneeling and praying amidst the passengers when the Stella foundered. April 5. The Queen telegraphed her heartfelt sympathy with the relations of the victims by the Stella disaster. The survivors of the Stella narrate instances of the captain's recklessness. -He declared that he iutended to arrive at his destination by 5 o'clock if he broke his neck in the attempt. The French Government also sent condolences.
