A STORM IN SYDNEY.
♦ WRECK OF THE KEGENT MUERAY. SYDNKi r , April 4. A southerly gale, with blinding rain and rough sea, is raging. along the coast. The barque Regent Murray, from Adelaide, reached Newcastle disabled, and groundedin a dangerous position while entei-ing the harbourr The lifeboat rescued 'her crew. (Delayed through the interruption of the La Perouse land lines by a cyclonic disturbance.) A gale increased to hurricane force this, afternoon. The La Perouse telegraph line was blown down. The gale also played havoc with the military encampment. One man was injured by a" falling tent. Splendid rains have fallen throughout the colony. The weather is moderating to-night. The Regent Murray was in charge of a tug at the time of the disaster. The gale lifted her over the wreck of the Wendouree on an oyster bank, and the wreck penetrating her hull she rapidly filled. The life boat had a difficult task" in rescuing the crew. [Evidently a message sent before the above has miscarried, a-s no previous intimation, was received of the disaster referred to.] April 5. The rain has ceased and the gale abated. The sea on the coa-st, however, is still very rough. The gale when at its height registered 71 miles per hour. Considerable damage was done to property.
