THE GRAIN MARKET REPORT.
Messrs. Samuel Orr and Co., Stafford Rtreet, report for the week ending April 21 as follows- :—
Fine weather has prevailed dur ng the past S week, and threshing has been vigorously pur- I sued— even by the moonlight,— so as to get through it. Oats.— Our forecast of last week of events has been already realised, as there is nothing like the demand now that ' characterised the market last week, notwithstanding holiday? and a firmer tone in Sydney. As we then pointed out, buyers have got good stocks, and so were independent of any events that might or jnay happen— in fact, some of them will unload tbeir purchases at the advance. We quote : Prime seed duns and long Tartars up to 2s fid ; fair quality, 2s 4d ; heavy bright sparrow bills and Sutherlands, 2s Id to 2s 2Jd ; ordinary, up to 2s.
Wheat. — The market for this cera' is as dull as ditch water, and practically no sales transpiring. To quote would only mislead, so we refrain from it.
Barley.— A very good demand exists for good quality, but inferior difficult to quit. Chaff.— Market well supplied now, and prices easier, £3 being about the price for good quality ; prime, j£3 ss. Potatoes. — Much about the same as last week, ' £3 5s for prime northern, and £3 for southerners.
