GRAIN AND SEED REPORT.
Messrs "William E Rbynomxs and Co , Bond street, report for the week endiug 14th April as follows :— Wheat has not altered much since our last a week ago, though the recent advices of the crop) having been damaged south have had a tendency to hirden prices somewhat, and tn-day business is mo'c easily done at quotations, which we give at up to 4s for prims velvet, Tuscan 3s lid to 4s, red sorts 3s 9d to 3s 10d, and to realise these prices the grain requires to be in fit»t-class condition, otherwise it is ouly saleable as fowl feed at from 3s to 3i 7d Oats.— We reported in our last that prices were somewhat better, and to-day we can even advance our quotations somewhat to thof>e of last week, owing, we think, chiefly to the damage done to the crops in Southland by the recent wet weather. All descriptions cf piime milling, especially Sutherlands, are eagerly nought afrer at up to 2s 2W ; sparrowbill.o, fit for milling, 2s lid ; re*lly gooi feed, 2i Id ; good sound feed, 2s ; ordinary quality, Is 10UI to Is lHd. We fear to predict much as to the future, btcni^e prices are very high for this time of year, and should the recent reports of the damage done to the ciop» in Southland be invented then it is likely iome easiug in the market may be noticeable shortly, but we do not anticipate any distinct fall in prices. Barley.— This grain is now meeting with good inquiry, and many in the trad -. fear &ome of the crops of this are also damaged, and consequently are quite ready t) buy, and we can quote prime quality, Hs 7d to 3i 9.1: Lakes grown, up to 4s; good medium, 3s to 3s 4d ; while damaged giaia it) unsaleable, except for feed purposes or milling, at consideiablv lower prices. » Chaff.— The nnrket has been too fully supplied during the last few day, and although in one or two cases £3 /)-> w,\s obtainable for extra piime old, £1 to £1 2-s 6d can be considered the quotation ; fair quality, £215* ; medium, £2 10-;. Potatoes are practically without alteration, though supplies forward are not; so heavy. AYe quote: Be-.t Derwents, up to £'i 5* ; ordinary quality, £2 12s 6d to £\\.
