CIRCLE HILL.

• June 30.— Everyone is rejoicing and talking about what a fine winter we are having, and the farmery seem to be making the most of it, as the ploughing is nearly finished. One runholdcr is turning over a lot of tussock and going in for large quantities of turnips and oat 3. There is nothing like, prices looking up a bit for muking the fanner improve his land. I hear most of the farmers >old their oats last month. Amusements.— A short time sinco the Circle Hill choir gave a very interesting service of song entitled " Little Liz." The proceeds were in aid of tbe organ fund. The chuir went to Waihola, Milburn, and Table Hill for the fame object. They had one .light disaster going to Table Hill, one of the expresses being turned over through the driver going up a bank, the occupants being deposited on the road. Fortunately, no one was any worse for the mishap. Lecture.— On the 23rd the Rev. J. G. Thomas (Wesleyan minister) del'vered a lecture on the '* Life of the Rev. Thos. Guthrie " in aid of the circuit funds. The lecture, though somewhat dry, was for the most part instructive. The choir gave some choruses, and the Misses Green and Messrs White and M'Kiunon contributed two quartets. Tbe school is closed this week for the winter holidays. ,
