At the Wyndham Warden's Court (says the Wyndham Farmer) three applicathns were made on behalf of whit ia known ub the South African Syndicate Frank Holmes, mineralogist, presently residing at Otara, deposed he was agent for the syndicate interested He had duly complied with all the necessary formalities, prior to maUiD* application foi' mining areas at Six Mile. His company intended spending £25,001) within two years on that particular claim, and would employ dining that time fro'i> 80 to 120 men. All the employees would be Europeivn— no Chinese or other Asiatics. The <*rea of the claim was 47a lr, the whole of which is coveied with sand. 'Hie area would be k<iown as section 4.3, block 'X, Wuikawa district. He also applied for !:!• t 2i near the mouth of the Wai papa cieek, to be known as section 24, block 11, Otara district. The syndicate were prepared to spend nther £25,000 on this area within two years. Both applications were granted subject to the Minister's consent. Charles M'Gill appeared to support an application for a claim hi' uated on the set beach south of sections 2 an ! 10, block T, Otara district, two miles in lcucth along the foreshore, and including all the guld-bearing san-1 on this portion of the beach. There are several claim*, held under miners' rights, being worked at the present time within the boundaries of the application. The company was prepared to s>pe<>d £20,000 on the claim dnd employ 100 men— all Eiiroppans. This application was alsogranted subject to the consent of the Minister.
