THE BLUE SPUR CONSOLIDATED COMPANY. (From Our Own Correspondent.)
Lawrence, June 6.
The Blue Spur Consolidated Comp:iny washed up this week after three months' luii'.inp. the very handsome return of 10-J0 ,z 10d»tli'in, he result. Had it not bopn foi occasional tho • < *■■* of water through the frosty" weather, tbe i-suu-us would have been larger. A* tending to show the completeness of this company's goM-fraving appliances, when Sir W. Buller was on a visit to the mine a few months ago he marked a threepenny silver coin and threw it into the elevator, and when washing down the race a few d'tys ago the coin was found by the manager; so tlut if the water doeh not carry away a light article light a threepenny piece they cannot be losing much gold. Another proof of their gold saving arrangements being highly satisfactory is in the boxes on the upper lift, after running for a good many month?, only givine; a return of between seven and eight ounces, which shows pretty conclusively that the boxes in the lower tier through which the stuff first passes catches and saves pretty well all the gold. To anyone connected^ with mining who h»3 not seen hydraulic slnicing on an extensive and systematically worked scale, a visit to the Blue Spur would be time well spent. A HANDSOME RETURN.
