May 7-— The annual meeting of the Portobello Road Board, held on Wednesday, was attanded by 12 ratepayers. Mr William Dickson was appointed chairman, Mr Hinkley retiring in his favour. The treasurer presented a draft copy of the balance ahset, which was thought very satisfactory by all present. The meeting was adjourned until the balance sheet is signed by the Auditorgeneral The ordinary meeting was then proceeded with. The motion to strike a rate of fd in the pound wa» confirmed Mr J. Bishop was appointed collector. The Chairman reported that he had accepted Mr Kirkwood's tender for day labour with hoise and dray. The chairman was instructed get some lupins planted to stop the sand drift.
