Both gentleman took an active part in all work in connection with the Bchool.

Conckrt.— A concert and dance in aid of the Brunner relief fund was held iv Glover's Hall on Friday, Bth iost. The attendance was very satisfactory, considering that a shower of rain came on in the evening, and, I understand, kept a number away who would have hart to come a distance. The chair was ocsupied by Mr D. Phillips, who in a few words stated the object of the gathering. He said the proceeds would be handed over to Mr. D. Kennedy, who was appointed collector for this* distiict. The conceit was in every way a success, Uie net proceeds to be banded over being £9. The committee who originated and carried out the arrangements were Messrs D. M. Phillip3, J. Philip, jun., George Ross, jun., W. Ross, W. M'Cullooh, James Sim, John Sim, J. Riddle, J. Murray, and J. Milk (secretary) Owing to the length of the programme it was resolved to dispense with enemva, but the rule had to be broken in the c^se of Mr A. Cooper, who had to respond to an undeniable encore. Mr J. Murray acted as MC. At interval*- during the dances., songs were contributed by MessrJ Borthwifk,. Cooper, and Jame", and Miss Doyle (P.ilroert.ton) contributed a recitation entitled "On the frontier" iv a very able mann°r.
