OWAKA.
April 28.— 0n Thursday, 23rd April, a social tneeti- g, under the auspices of the Owaka Presbyterian Christian Endeavour Society, was held in the church, which was tastefully decorated for the occasion. The Rev. Walter, G_ M'Laren (president) presided, and there was a large attend- . ance of eadeavourers from the various societies in the neighbourhood and of friends in sympathy vrith the -movement. After the "singing of a couple of hymns and prayer, the Chairman explained the purpose of the meeting, and expressed his plt-^-ure at seeing so many pieseut. He apologised for the absence of delegate* irom the Purekireki *t.d Port Molyneux Biideuvour -Bocietiea. He then delivered an appropriate addr»«s on " The Objects Contemplated by the Christian Bndeiv nr Society" Tea was served up at 8 pan' Thereafter interesting addresses were given. Mr William Moucur on "The Spiutual Progress Made in C-ttlins During the last 20 Years " ; Miss M'Lean (secietary 'Owaka Presbyterian Society), on " Piaise " ; Mr Jamen Glas? (Ratanui), on "The Coni>ecrated Life"; Mr Robert Catterwood (Tahatika), on "The N-ees»ity of Speaking for Christ " ; ,Mr George D«.binetb (Owaka Baptist Endeavour), on "The Duty of Active Member* Taking Some Distinct Purt Othor than Reading or Singing in Every Meeting" ; Mr Henry Tobin (vice-president Owaka FreebyterUn Endeavour), on " For Christ " : Mr Samuel YouDg, Owaka, Presbyterian Endeavour," The Chuich"; Mr Alexander AHam,. Owaka, Presbyterian Endeavour, on " The benefits to bt derived from membership in a Christian Endeavour Society." The addresses were intei kgrreed / with singing, ably led by Mr R Clapperton, with Miss E Duncan efficiently presiding at the organ.
