April 20.— A very pleasant afternoon' was spentr on. Otakia, €fanley, Healeyj Taierf Fferry, and Waihola districts! and parent* and friends from all these districts- were preient,it can> be easily' understood', that tne little- schoolroom war well filled with an interested audience,, which, seeingthat the ! entertainment was in tbe afternoon, consisted chiefly- of ladies. To show that even' in, one quarter Miss Hall can make good' pupils,Master Arthur (Henley) gave accurate rendering* of " The minßtrel boy, 1 " and Andante by Wickins. The same composer's "In happy moments " and " Huntsman's cllowa " were well played by Mi*s B. Sinclair, Titri ;-Mis» P: Anderson (Otakia) gave Gatb/s song-, " Rothe-ay B^ in a manner that showed careful tuition, while, her younger sister rendered" S«hum.»nn's ' Merry' peasant " ' most pi aeantly. As a variation to the piano playi g besides the songs aheady mentioned, Mihb Hall contributed a peasant cone in her usual fluishei manner, and Mrs Scott, -Waihola, also enlivened the afternoon with a sweet song. Amoog the ladle* piesent v f noticed also Mrs Stewart ; Mrs Mackay and Miss Mackay, Waihola f"ark ; Mra Knarston, Taieri Mouth ; Mrs Sinclair, Pliant Vall«y ; Mrs Anderson, Otakia ; Mrs and Mjsb Lamont and Mrs King, Ci'*nley ; Mra and Miss Peattie, Taieri Feny;-Miss Crorubie, Dunedin ; Mrs Bamage, Waihola ; Mi** Scott, Outraui ; Miss Wilson, Bilclntha ; and Misses .Sherburd and Wallace, Taieri Ferry, &c. An acceptable cup of afternoon tea promoted couyersa'ion, which mostly ran on the pleasure dt- rived from the reunion and the excellent playing and singing displayed by Miss Hall's pupils in so short a time.
