The colt ; held his advantage for half a mile, when Lady ' Mab closed an him, and Captive, who had been in a bad position, began to go up. In the last , bend Lady Mab had the race in hand, and she won easily by three lengths, Captive's final run leaving him a decent third. Time, lmin 18£ sec. Dividend, £3 Is. . Cactus was leading < slightly passing the stand the first time. Ascending the hill Cactus had a lead of two clear lengths which Lady Mab caught up before ' the straight was entered, and a determined ■ struggle ensued up the straight-, the pair racing neck and neck, and finishing a dead beat. Time, lmin 46sec. Armature after < going three furlongs bolted off the course. The totalisator paid ouc on both, paying £1 ' lls oh Cactus and 18s on Lady Mab. : In the ran off, Lady Mab won by a lengLh. '■ Time, lmin 45sec. Dividend, £2 4s. From a middling start Shotover cut out the running. On entering the straight the Queen ', forged ahead, and won easily by a length. Time, lmin 20sec. Dividend, £6 2s. Queen was bought in for £15. Consolation Handicap, of 15aovs. One mile. 44— Mr Cotton's eh Wolseley, by Sir Garnet— Gitano9.s (Young) 1 23— Mr Craig's b m Huia, 6.7 ... (M'Comb) 2 Won easily by four lengths. Time, lmin 45£ sec.
