Friday, February 2. Lawlor's Whitethorn, 21b over (N. Kelly, jun.), 1 ; Mr J. Argyle's Banjo, 61b, 2. Mr S. Cox's Tyrant, 41b, was the first to pass the post, but a protest was successfully entered by Mr Lawlor on the ground that he did not come within the category of a " district horse," seeing he had run at Winton on the Prince of Wales's Birthday. The money therefore went to Whitethorn. Also started: Mr H. Robinson's Sailor (1.0 over), Mr Carlyle's Tim (51b), and Mr Neil Brown's Maggie (1.0). Won by three lengths. The only other starter was Carlyle's Tim. A protest was entered by Moffitt against first money going to the grey, the grounds being (1) that he was not a district hone, and (2) that he was not owned by R. Forbes. The stewards met in the evening, and after consideration decided to adjourn until Saturday next, when further evidence and documents will be produced and a decision arrived at.
