Owing to delays, caused chiefly by the consideration of protests, the programme was not completed when visitors had to return by train to Invercargill. Results :— Handicap Hurdle Race, of 25sovs; second horse Ssovs. Two miles. 19— Mr Bate's Juno, by Pertobe, 10.13 (Walsh) 1 31— Mr M'Anelly's Fairy Queen, 10.5 (Meredith) 2 3— Mr M'Leod's Ardross, 9.0 ...(Wallace) 3 Won by a couple of lengths comfortably. Time, 4min 28£ sec. Dividend, £2 10s. Maiden Plate, of 15sovs. One mile and aquarter. 32— Mr T. W. Forde's eh g The Miner, by Alluvium, aged (Mcares) 1 2— Mr Langford's Firefly (Meredith) 2 21— Mr Kearney's Dunluce (Wallace) 3 Also started : 29 Admiral, 5 Dunvil, 0 Fanny, 3 Killarney 11, 10 Lady Salomne, 3 Leola, 3 Irene, 10 Diana, 1 Beware. Won by two lengths comfortably. Time, 2min 27see. Dividend, £3 6s. A protest on the ground of a previous win at Heddon Bush was dismissed. Wairio Cup, of 35sovs ; second horse ssovs. One mile and a-half. 63— Mr A. Brennan's Billy, by Duntroon, 9.5 17— Mr M'Kenzie's Leinster, 8.11 ... (Towner) 2 34— Mr Richards's Surefoot, 9.2 ... I— Mr Davanney'B Conqueror, 11.0 (Clunch) 2 51 Masterpiece also started, bat ran round the first hurdle, and lost so much ground that he was not afterwards persevered with. A protest for crossing was dismissed. Dividend, £3 7s. Handicap Time Trot, of 15soys ; second horse 3sovs. Three miles. 7— Mr Jamieson's Silver Bell, 35sec 1 10— Mr Powell's Oreti, scr 2 Also started : 17 Elizabeth ssec, Waxy 17sec, 50 Pat 43sec, Sandy 43sec, Jenny 45sec, 1 Emily 45sec, 4 Dodger 45sec. Emily was first past the post by 20 lengths, but was, after consideration of a protest, disqualified for having run at Heddon Bush sports under another name. Time, 9min lOsec. Dividend, £11 Bs.
