Hides : Ordinary, 2d to 2Jd ; damaged, 3d to Id. Fat :. Good rough, 12s t)d ; rendered, 12s to 18s. Beeswax wanted, Is Id. Pigs (if prime), 3}d to 3Jd. Roll bacon, 5Jd ; hams, 7Jd. Prime chaff, 60s. Derwent potatoes offering freely. We have cleared most forward at 43s 6d to 48s 6d. Onions, ■ 3s 3d to 4s. Cocksfoot, no sale. Poultry : Ducks, 2s lid to 3s 9d ; geese, 5s to 6s 6d ; young cocks (poor birds), Is 9d to 2s 3d ; well-grown, 2s 6d to 3s Id ; hens, Is lid to 2s 3d ; turkeys— cocks, 7d to 7*d ; hens, fid to 6id. Fresh butter rather more plentiful. Salt in good demand, although a good deal forward. We have cleared every keg of prime at B}d (kegs extra). Eggs very scarce. I'ruit: Peaches, 3d to 4d ; grapes— inferior 5d to 6d, best 8d to lOd ; tomatoes (very plentiful), 2d— hothouse up to 3d; applesgood cooking lid, eating 2d to 2Jd ; pears—, inferior 2d, best sorts 2Jd to 3d; oranges, 8s to 10s (we landed 7!) cases today) ; lemons, 15s ; plums (no inquiry), lid to 2d. Business continues brisk, produce generally meeting with good inquiry. The result of our annual sale of opossum rugs and furs, which we held last Saturday, should go far to dispel any idea of bad times, siuce there was a capital attendance, and the total sum realised was far in excess of any previous sales. We shall hold another sale shortly.
