Thomas Paterson and Co., fruit and produce agents, Manse street, report April (> :— Fruit. — A good demand exists for good desert pears, apples, also of good quality are coming mto demand :— Pears, 2Ad to 3d ; apples, l|d to 2id ; quinces lid to Hd ; tomatoes, in full supply, Id to 2d— hothouse, 3d ; grapes, supply falling off, 6d, to Is ; oranges : Tahiti, 8s 6d, Sydney 6s Od— both in stock ; lemons, 15s— scarce ; plums, demand over, small shipment forward from Hobarfc this week, 3s to 5s per case ; new Akaroa walnuts, 6d good supply ; new figs 6id ; new dates, 5d to s}d. We land to-morrow 175 cases D.E. Tahiti oranges, landed also 90 cases Hobart pears and apples ; peanuts 2d to 2Jd ; cocoanuts, 9s ; bananas, 2d to 2id.
Produce.— Eggs, scarce. Fresh butter in only moderate supply; salt butter has fair inquiry,4Jd to 6d. inferior, good to prime, 7d to Bid. Cheese: Akaroa, 3jd to 4d ; factory, 4dto4Jd. Bacon, roll, 4Jd to s|d. Hams, 7d to BJd. Pigs, in good demand, 3d to 3jd. Potatoes are in full supply, and offered in line* at 40s to 455. Carrots, 40s, , sacks extra. Onions, L 3 10s to L 4. Poultry in' fair demand : Hens, 2s to 2s 6d ; roosters, 2s 9d to 3s 6d.
