Warnock v. Mar.
I In last issue w<j gave the result i of this matoh for the ohampioni ship of Australasia. •' Single Corner," in the Sydney Boho, writes as follows on the match :— " Play began on Tuesday, the 18th inst., and finished on Saturday. It appears to me, from the rapidity with which the games were played, some of them not lasting more than 2fi minuteß, that it was a game of skittles that was played. There is one thing certain— that j it is not like Mr Warnook's usual style to play a matoh game in 20 I minuteß The fastest time noted in the late N.S.W. Tourney was a game played between Mr T. Beid and Mr Warnock in 45 minutes, and then that was thought exceedingly rapid for Mr Warnook, who usually takes about two hour* and a-ha)f to play one game." • The result of the match —Warnock 3, Mar 10, and 5 drawn —seems to strengthen the idea that Mr Warnook must have been I very economical of care and time, provided, of course, that he was in good health at the time of play-lpg-Hor. although the prevailing •.opinion was that Mr Warnook >woUld not retain his laurels, it was ex£eoted lie 'would rnuke a much better stand.
