Draughts Matches.

A GALA. DAY AT MATAUBA. On Friday afternoon (28th ult.) a draughts matoh was played in the Oddfellows' Hall, M»taura. between the Mandeville and Mataura Draughts Clubs. In the evening another matoh was played in the same place by the Wyndham and Mandeville Clubs. Both matches were closely contested. Mandeville defeated Mataura by one point, and was beaten by one point in their match with Wyndham. Some ex*citement was caused by the last game in the Wyndham matoh. Mitchell and W. M'Kinna were the last to finish, and were considerably over the stipulated time. On this game depended the match, and when Mitchell disposed of his opponent, Wyndham was deolared the victor. After the match the visitors were hospitably entertained at Cameron's Hotel by the local team. WYWPHAM V. MANDEVIIiLS.

The Mandeviile • Otama team made strenuous efforts to gain two victories for their club, and it will be seen that they were almost successful . The Wyndham players had to lay their ears back to maintain their unbeaten record.
