CURLING AT NASEBY.
Last Monday was the day fixed for the competition for Mr Callender's trophy, but owing to a thaw setting in the event was postponed till Tuesday, when rinks from all parts came into Naseby. Proceedings commenced about 1 p.m. on Mr Young'shistorical dam, the weather being good and the ice keen. between 300 and 400 persons witnessed the competition, which was keenly contested. The brass band gave selections during the afternoon on the upper dam, where skating and dancing became the order of the day. The proceedings were most em'oyable, and were such that they will be long looked back to with feelings of pleasure by those who participated in them. Scores : —

At the conclusion of the contest, Mr John Ewing, president of the province, presented Mr Guffie, skip of the winning rink, with the trophy, accompanying it with a few words of congratulation. Mr Guffie suitably replied, after which three cheers were given respectively for the president of the province and the visiting rinks.
